From 1 June, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) will open its doors to Surrealism: The Poetry of Dreams. Straight from the Paris Centre Pompidou, the exhibition includes more than 180 works by 56 artists. Gracing the stage of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Doctor Zhivago will dazzle theatre fans with unforgettable melodies and lavish costumes and sets from 6 July. The Torres Strait Islands: A Celebration will unite arts organisations of the South Bank precinct through a world-first exhibition of Torres Strait Islander arts and culture featuring art collections, performances, lectures and activities for all ages from 1 July to 23 October. Other cultural events include the Queensland Music Festival from 15-31 July and the Brisbane Festival from 3 -24 September.
