The Queensland Maritime Museum is situated on the South Bank of the Brisbane river at the South Brisbane Dry Dock which was used extensively by the US Navy for the repair of submarines and other vessels during WWII. Opened in 1971, the museum chronicles Queensland’s maritime history. The 430-foot-long dry dock which is home to the light ship, the CLS2 Carpentaria and the HMAS Diamantina can be accessed by guided tour.
